Leech (Pacat & Lintah)

This is known as "pacat" in Malay language and in English they called it leech. It suck human or animals blood and i think i did share about my jungle trekking experience where i get 12 individuals on my feet and leg. Quite a number huh!
As for this one, i am not sure what is this. But i don't really like this guy. I don't know why but it scare me. I will not touch it or hold it in my hand. I will NOT do it. What is it? I don't have an answer. Sorry guys!

We have leeches here too, but maybe ours are smaller. I think they're bigger in warmer climates. That second thing scares me too. I would not want to touch it either.

Leeches are tough to handle, the 2nd one with its bright colors does seem scary.

Ratty--Actually we have different sizes of leeches and the one in my phota is the average one. There are one more slightly bigger than this one. The second one have different shape and colours too and ad i said i am scared of it.

T and S--Yes it is. We use tobacco as a traditional way to keep leeches away from us.

Kim--Hahaha..if you look closely it is really interesting with different colours and some of them have stripes. I will get one photo of it during my next trip. I like them but the only thing is they suck our blood..yaiks!

rainfield61--I think you may find then during your hiking at your hiking trail in Cerok Tekun.

Don't worry. The 2nd one is a land planarian, also known as hammerhead worm or shovel head worm. It won't bite.
